Ned gets let off. Thank goodness

12th Nov 2007

Ned was anxiously awaiting the outcome of the trial but due to the

important new information about feeding him the salad waste from the

kitchen and the technical fact that if he was executed his remains would

be buried and are therefore landfill. he has received a reprieve. Hooray!

We have lost a lot of oaks around Llangedwyn Estate over the last winter

and summer so we have been on an acorn mission. We collected 251 acorns

which we are going to pot and plant out when they are ready.

Could the guinea pigs help us reduce school meal waste?

21st Oct 2007

We are all concerned about the plight of the polar bears. At Llangedwyn we
like to try to help everyone we can and we wondered if Ned and Fred the
school guinea pigs were pulling their weight.

Perhaps they could eat all the school meal salad waste.

Sadly we are not sure they really trying.

Do they care about the plight of the polar bear.

Is this the end of the line for Ned and Fred, is this bad
noose for our furry friends?

The trial will be next week - watch this space.llangedwyn_pet_250

Where do crisp pachets and glass jam jars come from?

15th Oct 2007

Some of the children found it hard to believe that jam jars started off as sand and crisp packets were once oil beneath the ground!llangedwyn_5_250llangedwyn_6_250

Mr Parkinson had to eat the infant's waste!

15th Oct 2007

Monday 15th October

The waste this week was a bit of a disappointment - 14.6 kg - the infants
went out for a visit to Llangollen and no-one told the kitchen resulting
in mega food waste on Wednesday. Mr Parkinson tried to help  by
munching hisway through lots of dinners. Sadly he got a further telling off
from Cath, our dinner lady, and organiser of the LARD Club (Llangedwyn Amply
Rounded Dieters) for putting on half a kilo at the weigh in on Friday.

Here we are working out where all the waste is left around our school

9th Oct 2007

Here are photos of children doing a bin search using the school plan.
This is the first Happy Bin lesson. We have identified the locations of the compost bins, llangedwyn_map2_250llangedwyn_map_3_250waste bins and recycling bins around the school.

The first week’s waste was mostly kitchen waste. All the staff and children are on board; we have designed posters to heighten everyone’s awareness.
